We are looking for multiple specialist teachers to join our ever-increasing Youth Theatre program at Spotlight Theatre.
Our Youth Theatre program, now entering its 48th year of educating the next generation of performers, prides itself on providing a fun-filled, safe, learning environments for all students. Many of our graduates go on to pursue a career in the arts, studying at tertiary institutions nation-wide.
These positions will provide practical instruction in all areas of drama including, but not limited to:
monologues, duologues and scene work, theatre etiquette, optional pair/group examination preparation, and performance work.
Our Junior Drama students exist of the following age groups (grades 1,2.3) and Intermediate Drama students (grades 4,5,6). The first half of the year is designed to learning basic stage craft and improvisation, in preparation for presenting a short play (usually written by the teacher - though not a requirement) at the end of the year.  Our remaining Drama classes are divided into 3 age groups: Year 7 & 8, Year 9 & 10s, and Year 11 & 12s. At the beginning of each year, students spend time preparing and workshopping monologues, focusing on trust, team building and scene work, and duologues, before auditioning and rehearsing for their full-length play, and finishing off with a Drama festival with all age groups at the end of the year.
Each class will have a minimum of 2 Teaching staff who will work together to provide a safe and caring environment and develop an engaging and age-appropriate program that provides an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and continue to grow and develop their performance skills. 
Timetabling will be flexible for the right teachers.
Successful applicants must be able to:
Demonstrate an aptitude for teaching students of all agesHave a vast performance experience or training equivalentHave experience working with students of all ages in a class settingBe confident teaching students of all levels and abilitiesAccess to or knowledge of how to find resources and materials Must hold a current Blue Card and/or be eligible to obtain a Blue Card before commencingEmployment
Work as a team and have great communication skills and be willing to accept direction from others.Be available to attend team meetings monthly.The Spotlight Theatrical Company inc. reserves the right to perform additional qualification,
