Youth Support Worker Join us in making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people in out-of-home care in Gladstone! We're on the lookout for dedicated people to join our care team.
We are looking for committed individuals who are interested in a casual position in our Child and Family Services.
Our care team members provide tailored therapeutic interventions aimed at addressing the unique needs of each child or young person we care for to help them overcome trauma and build resilience on their journey to adulthood in Out of Home Care.
The Role: As a valued member of our care team, you'll play a crucial role in assisting children and young people to fulfil their potential and achieve what is important to them through day-to-day provision of care, nurturing and safety in our Out of Home Care Programme.
Your responsibilities will include:
Meeting the child or young person's daily care needs such as personal hygiene, health and well-being, medical, transportation, recreational and educational support needsContributing to and maintaining a quality care environment for all children and young people that is safe, clean and personalised to those that live thereDocumenting accurately events and developments related to the day-to-day provision of care on the child or young person's journey with usEnsuring children and young people's NDIS plans are accessible for them while in our careUtilising trauma-informed practices and supports in day-to-day care provision for children and young peopleProviding positive behaviour support, therapeutic interventions and safety to children and young people who may experience events of escalation and crisisEncouraging and facilitating opportunities for social engagement, recreation, and community involvementCollaborating with the care team to develop and implement individualised support plansAdvocating for the rights and needs of the children and young peopleSupporting young people in developing essential life skills, including education, vocational training, and independent living skillsPromoting and supporting positive relationships and connection for children and young people with family, culture and communityHelping children and young people reach developmental and life milestones towards a healthy, happy and thriving lifeAbout You: We are looking for care team members who have a demonstrated passion for helping children and young people heal and grow through understanding and helping them lead fulfilling lives whilst promoting their independence.
You will understand the importance of trauma-informed care, and adapting responses and utilising a broad range of support strategies.
You will also be committed to meticulous documentation and reporting with a deep commitment to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people.
Essential requirements include a current paid working with children check, national police check, valid driver's license, current first aid as well as a suitable minimum qualification (or willing to be enrolled; to view the full list of eligible qualifications, please click here).
