Full time, 76 hours per fortnight, fixed term (till 31/12/2024) with possibility to extend Located in Carnarvon, WA Competitive Salary $82,043.52 - $88,287.68 + $2,000 regional allowance p/a Salary sacrifice benefits HOPE has been a community service in Western Australia for over a century, providing much needed support to people affected by alcohol and other drugs, mental ill-health, youth justice issues and socioeconomic disadvantage.  We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Support Mentor to join the Youth Justice Service team! The position is full time, working Monday to Friday. About the Opportunity  The Youth Support Mentor is an independent position, co-located in the Youth Justice Service office. The Youth Support Mentor will work closely with the identified Youth Justice Officer for each young person to achieve positive outcomes for young people in the areas of:  Rehabilitation: Criminogenic Treatment and Support;   Emotional Wellbeing: Family & Community Engagement;   Education, Training and Employment;   Lifeskills Health and Development; and/or  Bail service if required.  Requirements of the Role:  Meet with the young person to build a relationship based on trust; to discuss problems, and plan and facilitate programs focused on the specific needs of the young person.  Provide information about services and resources; refer clients to appropriate specialist agencies, and support the young person to sustain participation with the services.   Act as an advocate and raise issues with the HOPE Outcome Coordinator and the local Youth Justice team.  Participate in regular meetings with the HOPE Outcome Coordinator (for overview of client services), and the local Youth Justice team (for case coordination).  Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, and actively participate in quality audits, including data validation and review.  Use agreed Outcome Star to support and measure change in areas identified in the young person's YJS case plan.  About you: Commitment to upholding HOPE's vision, mission, and values.  Experience working with youth at risk.  A broad understanding of the challenges and experiences of people in regional Australia.   Strong communication and problem-solving skills    Desirable Criteria:  Experience working in regional / remote communities.   Current knowledge of and commitment to Equal Opportunity in all aspects of employment and service delivery.  Appointments will be subject to Australian residency/visa, satisfactory National Police check (within 3 months), Working With Children card, Current C or A class driver's license, First Aid Certificate, and suitable work referees.
