Youth Off The Streets is a not-for-profit youth organisation that provides safety, support and opportunities for young people to build a positive future. We offer crisis accommodation and housing services, alternative high school education, alcohol and other drugs counselling, youth justice support, life skills and employment programs, cultural support and community engagement, among other services. We focus on early interventions that empower young people and strengthen communities.
Not all children and young people thrive in mainstream schools. Our registered and accredited independent high schools offer a flexible alternative for students in Years 9–12. We operate six independent high schools that are registered and accredited with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Youth Off The Streets is also a member of the Association of Independent Schools of NSW (AISNSW).
About the role: We are seeking a motivated Trainer & Assessor to deliver the Certificate in Skills for Work, working with students aged 14-17. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on creating inspiring learning experiences and is ready to travel to meet learners where they are.
Key Responsibilities: Deliver engaging and effective training for the Certificate in Skills for Work program at various locations, including Merrylands, Maroubra, Campbelltown, and surrounding areas. Work primarily with young people aged 14-18, and also oversee some VET provisional courses delivering to adults. Facilitate learning experiences tailored to students aged 14-17, both in-person and online. Provide personalised support to help learners build skills and confidence for the workforce. Conduct assessments in line with RTO compliance standards and guidelines. Collaborate with team members to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment. Requirements: The person we seek will ideally have the following:
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent. Proven experience working with young people aged 14-17 in educational or community settings. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Willingness and ability to travel regularly to multiple sites for training delivery. Proficiency with digital tools for training and assessment (e.g., Zoom, Cloud Assess). A qualification in Community Services or related fields. Experience delivering employability or workplace readiness programs. Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning needs. Previous experience working with young people is preferred but not essential. Certifications & Licences: Working with children's check, police check, valid driver's licence and full Australian working rights. What we can offer you: Flexible working arrangements.
