This is an exciting opportunity to join the agency in a full-time ongoing capacity in the Children, Youth & Families program area. The position involves recruiting, screening, and assessing the suitability of volunteer mentors and mentees for MASP's youth mentoring program. Job Description The Youth Mentoring Coordinator provides training, supervision, and support to mentors, facilitating team-building and weekly sessions focused on developing physical and mental capacities. It engages with young people facing complex needs, matches them with appropriate mentors, and monitors their wellbeing. The position also supports the mentor/mentee relationship, collaborating with families and stakeholders, promoting youth empowerment, managing group dynamics, and providing feedback to foster progress and development within the program. Expected commencing salary of $87,675.81 per annum (depending on qualifications) plus statutory superannuation. Desired Skills and Experience Essential role-specific skills, knowledge and experience Relevant qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, Social Science or other relevant tertiary studies. Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating youth mentoring programs, including setting goals, planning activities, and monitoring outcomes. Knowledge of the relevant sections of the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005 and the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005, as well as knowledge of child protection policies, including mandatory reporting and risk management, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. Demonstrated experience in assessing, supervising and supporting volunteers and understanding of the rights and responsibilities of volunteers. Proven ability to lead, supervise, and support staff or volunteers, ensuring the effective delivery of mentoring programs. Ability to work with diverse groups, including young people from different cultural, socioeconomic, and ability backgrounds, ensuring an inclusive and respectful environment. Strong problem-solving abilities with a demonstrated capacity to handle conflicts or challenges that may arise between mentors, mentees, or stakeholders Highly desirable role-specific skills, knowledge and experience Demonstrated experience working with youth in mentoring, coaching, or development programs, including knowledge of best practices in fostering positive youth-adult relationships. ** Applications that do not address the Key Selection Criteria in the position description may not be considered.
