About the Position: The Waalitj Foundation has an exciting opportunity for a Youth Mentor to join our Community Development Program based in Laverton and Leonora This is a fulltime, fixed term position until October 2024. Part-time will be considered for the right candidate. The Community Development Program (CDP) is a remote employment and community development service. CDP supports job seekers in remote Australia to build skills, address barriers and contribute to their communities through a range of flexible activities. Responsibilities: Development and implementation of youth program activities Maintain a caseload of youth participants that are supported to improving their employability through mentoring support and involvement in activities Seek opportunities to market and promote the Community Development Program inclusive of opportunities to present shared learnings Play a key role in assisting participants throughout the program and during the transitional phase into the workplace or into training Record and report all contact, mentoring, job placements etc into ESS in a timely manner Create awareness amongst participants of transition into the workplace including social and personal changes To be successful in this role: To be suitable for this role you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements and experience: Experience with working and building relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait people Ability to engage, network and maintain relationship Experience within a remote community Ability to work within a small team and independently High level communication skills, both verbal and written What We Offer You: An attractive salary including Salary Packaging Employee Assistance Program Training and professional development opportunities A friendly and supportive work environment Additional requirements include holding or the ability to obtain: Valid 'C' class driver's licence National police clearance Working With Children Check Please apply with a Cover Letter and Resume addressing the work-related requirements by Friday 3rd May 2024 Suitable applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander are strongly encouraged to apply.
