Youth Justice Worker (Night) - CustodialJob Function: Prison and Corrective ServicesAbout this roleChallenging, security-focused role based in either Parkville or Cherry Creek Youth Justice PrecinctsFull training provided, including a fully funded Certificate IV in Youth JusticeEarn up to $90,555 with penalty rates on a base salary of $58,539Youth justice workers (Nights) are the frontline staff who supervise and support young people overnight at Cherry Creek and Parkville Youth Justice Precincts, our secure facilities housing young people on remand or sentenced to a period of imprisonment. As a casual or full-time youth justice worker on night shift, you will be responsible for:
CCTV monitoring, compliance reporting, responding to alarms and perimeter searchesCreating a safe and secure environment for both staff and young peopleRedirecting anti-social and challenging behaviourResponding to incidents as they occurFacilitating support from other services, including health and mental health providers, educators and disability organisations.To be successful, you will be a keen problem solver with great situational awareness, but this job can be tough and at times, your resilience will be tested. However, by putting in the work, you will see young people make small shifts in their thinking that can have a major impact on their lives and community safety. To be considered for a youth justice worker role you must be either:
An Australian citizen – a birth certificate, citizenship certificate or current passport is required as proof of eligibilityA permanent resident of AustraliaA New Zealand citizen who has entered Australia on a valid passport, or eligible to work in Australia for a period of more than six months.Prior to starting work, all successful candidates must independently obtain:
Current First Aid Certification (HLTAID011 is preferred, or the Provide Basic Emergency Life Support course - HLTAID002 at a minimum)Current CPRHold a valid Working with Children Check (Employee)A driver licence is desirable but not mandatory.
