About the role This position is based in the small, remote town of Halls Creek. It is a small, friendly town, with employees working very closely with other agencies and stakeholders. As part of the position, you will work very closely with the young people and families of the Halls Creek area. The location of Halls Creek is an outdoors oasis with activities such as camping, hiking, and exploring the natural beauty of the WA outback in your downtime.
Under the supervision of your team leader, the Youth Justice Officer (YJO) case manages young people subject to community supervision orders and young people at risk of offending, with the aim of reducing re-offending, protecting the community, and working closely with families to guide young people towards adopting law-abiding lifestyles to contribute towards safer communities. This is a rewarding career choice, allowing you to witness a young person take control of their future through their goals and aspirations.
Youth Justice Officers use research-led, contemporary world best practice assessments and interventions to affect positive behavior changes. YJOs undertake their duties with an understanding of, and sensitivity to, diverse cultural groups. The position in Halls Creek works with a close-knit team, with all members fully focused on working with young people and their families to achieve positive results. The staff at the office support each other, and the successful applicant will be expected to work in an office culture of support and teamwork.
To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector, you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.
