* Ongoing, full time position based in Melbourne's western suburbs * Be part of a collaborative and supportive team * Contribute to community safety and rehabilitation of young people in the justice system * Salary range: $72,721 - $89,292 plus superannuation About us The Youth Justice Team provides community-based supervision and a range of case management and support services for young people who are appearing before, or have been sentenced by, the Children's Court, Children's Koori Court, and adult criminal courts and who have been placed on youth justice supervised orders.
The team promotes the personal development of young people and contributes to the reduction of crime in the community.
About the role Case Managers supervise and provide support to clients subject to Youth Justice court orders.
The position ensures that all cases are managed to a high standard.
This includes preparing Court and Youth Parole Board reports, developing Client Service Plans and attending court for client matters.
Case Managers provide assessments, develop case plans/reports and advocate for the provision of support services.
Case Managers also maintain professional relationships with Youth Justice Centres, the Youth Parole Board, Courts and community service organisations.
The Youth Justice places emphasis on diversion and rehabilitation of young offenders in order to minimise further offending.
Operating outside normal office hours may be required at times Youth Justice are currently recruiting an ongoing full time Youth Justice Case Manager position based in Melbourne's western suburbs, initially based at the Sunshine office.
To hear more about youth justice case management please see the video here To be successful in this role you will have: * A passion for contributing to the rehabilitation of young people in the justice system * understanding of the youth justice system, the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and associated policies and guidelines * knowledge of the principles of case management with the ability to utilise a range of assessments and interventions relevant to the background and needs of the young person * empathy and cultural awareness including an appreciation of different cultures * confidence in managing stakeholders, negotiating effectively to develop and implement solutions.
Qualifications * A Bachelor of Social Work or Diploma in Community Services Work is highly desirable.
* A full driver's licence is required due to the need to respond to emergencies across the state at short notice and outside business hours as required.
* A current employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant.
Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
