The Youth Justice Service provides community-based supervision and a range of case management and support services for young people who are appearing before, or have been sentenced by, the Children's Court, Children's Koori Court and adult criminal courts and who have been placed on youth justice supervised orders. Through supervision, offending related programs and linkages to appropriate support services, the youth justice service promotes opportunities for accountability and rehabilitation that contributes to the reduction of crime in the community.
About the role:
The Youth Justice Advanced Case Manager role is a senior case management position within the youth justice service, primarily responsible for the statutory supervision and coordination of services for young people subject to statutory court orders. The role requires high standards of case management practice, with particular experience in effectively coordinating the delivery of rehabilitative interventions for young people with complex needs at high risk of offending in the community.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead day-to-day statutory supervision and case management of young people with complex needs
Support clients by providing holistic support to increase young people's opportunities of enhanced quality of life and community inclusion
Implement and review client service plans, programs and services
Liaise with agencies such as courts, policy, mental health services and other internal and external stakeholders
Prepare reports, briefs and correspondence and maintenance of prescribed registers
Implement strategies that address offending behaviour and encourage young people to comply with statutory orders
About you:
An understanding of the youth justice system, particularly the principles and philosophy underpinning relevant legislation and the Victorian Youth Justice program.
An understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and associated policies and guidelines developed for use by youth justice workers. Understanding of Children's Court practices and procedures or ability to obtain such knowledge.
Advanced knowledge and skills relating to the case management of people with complex needs, requiring the highest level of supervision and support in the community to manage risks, relevant to their development, gender and cultural needs
Demonstrates perseverance in achieving objectives and copes effectively with setbacks and problems
A full driver's licence and current employee Working with Children Check is mandatory for this role.
