Home Base exists to end youth homelessness and provide young people with resources, safe spaces, and opportunities to build brighter futures.
We're a not-for-profit community organisation and for over 50 years, we've been helping young Tasmanians with employment, education, housing, and relationships.
About the Programs Home Base provides 24-hour supported accommodation at two facilities for young people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness.
Colville Place supports young people aged 12-15, and Mara House supports young women aged 13-20.
These services aim to assist young people to develop their current skills and abilities; to make connections within the community; to reunify with family; to obtain long-term, sustainable housing; and to reach their full potential.
About the Roles We have a Part-Time Night Role and several Casual Positions available.
In the role of Youth Housing Worker, your duties will include: Intake, assessment, and case management to support the identification and achievement of young people's goals.Providing solutions-focused counselling.Supporting the establishment of positive re-connections with young person's family, social networks, and significant people in their lives.Supporting residents to engage with education, training, and employment opportunities. To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in: Working with young people with high and complex needs and challenging behaviours in a residential setting.Key issues pertaining to young people at risk of and experiencing homelessness, and social and economic disadvantage.Conducting strengths-based, crisis and in-depth client assessments against set criteria, intervention counselling, identification of suicidal ideation and intervention, co-case planning with external case management services, and supporting the identification and achievement of consumer goals.Utilising a restorative justice framework and trauma-informed practice.
