Youth Focus is a for-purpose organisation that creates brighter futures for young people in Western Australia by offering a range of no-cost mental health services. Established in 1994, Youth Focus delivers innovative and accessible mental health services and programs across Western Australia to help at-risk young people aged 12 to 25.
A key component of this is our role as the lead agency for a number of headspace centres, including the dynamic and successful headspace Geraldton located on Yamatji Country.
The headspace mission is to collaborate to design and deliver innovative ways of working with young people to strengthen their mental health and wellbeing. headspace Geraldton is part of a national network of over 150 headspace centres operating across Australia with the vision of all young Australians being supported to be mentally healthy and engaged in their communities.

The Individual Placement Support (IPS) Specialist provides vocational support to young people looking to return to or gain employment and educational opportunities. In this role, you will:
Work with a caseload of up to 20 young people to provide personalised vocational support. Provide assistance to young people with job searching, job applications, interview preparation, and/or accompanying young people to interviews where appropriate. Assist young people with meaningful job searches, applications, and interview preparations. Provide individualised ongoing support to young people once they have secured education and/or employment to assist them in sustaining the placement. Proactively engage and work with employers in order to create employment opportunities for young people experiencing mental health issues. Engage with the young person's clinician to provide holistic integrated support. Explore and develop partnerships with other community-based organisations (such as local education or training providers) that may assist young people achieving their vocational goals. Participate in the bi-annual IPS Fidelity process and review. Maintain timely case notes within the agreed data management system MMEx. About You
To be considered for this position, applicants will have:
An intrinsic determination to advocate, guide, and support young people in their pursuit of valued work and study opportunities. Knowledge of disability and employment policy, legislation, and community services across a range of government and non-government sectors. Exceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Working knowledge of the employment services environment (including Centrelink, DES) and experience working with tertiary educational institutions and schools. Ability to network, negotiate and influence stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in employment services, social work, teaching, youth work or another health-related discipline. Current Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle. What We Offer
