Shepparton location, Yorta Yorta Country$53.85 per hour + SuperThe Opportunity The Shepparton Education First Youth Foyer assists young people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness (aged between 16-24) to build sustainable lives. This is achieved through the provision of safe secure accommodation, mentoring and personal supports whilst they are engaged in study or training to prepare them to transition to independent living and employment.
Key Responsibilities The Youth Development Worker role coaches, supports and mentors young people living at the Foyer. The role is varied in providing guidance to young people in helping them to complete their Certificate 1 Developing Independence, facilitate workshops as the Health and Well-being coach and provide advice in living and life skills.
Additionally you will;
Support young people to achieve independent and sustainable living skills.Coordinate support services, education and training services to ensure young people remain engaged.Work collaboratively with internal and external agencies to achieve common goals for young people.Mentor and coach young people through their achievements.Promote the Education First Youth Foyer as a community engaged program and promote opportunities for students to engage with their community.About You We are looking for a Youth Development Worker who has a broad range of life experiences, skills and employment backgrounds who have a genuine interest in supporting young people to make a contribution to the community.
An appropriate Diploma level or tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Services, Education or similar is desirable, however candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
