About YMCA Victoria Camp Manyung Nestled in the beautiful Mt Eliza on the Mornington Peninsula, YMCA Camp Manyung is a vibrant outdoor recreation and group accommodation facility. We cater to a wide range of clients, from school camps to family and community groups, offering a variety of exciting adventure activities, both on-site and along the stunning Bay foreshore.
About the RoleAs our Head Chef/Catering Coordinator, you'll take the reins in running our busy kitchen, ensuring that all groups—large and small—enjoy delicious, nutritious meals throughout their stay. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll manage a dynamic kitchen team and ensure smooth, efficient operations, including menu planning, food safety, team coordination, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring a smooth service for all groups on siteCreate seasonal menus that are healthy, appetizing, and meet diverse dietary needsFoster strong relationships with camp coordinators to ensure all catering needs are met during each group's stayBuild and maintain an effective, motivated catering team, ensuring strong communication and collaborationTrain and supervise staff in all aspects of food preparation, food safety, kitchen cleanliness, and customer interactionImplement an efficient food ordering system, ensuring timely deliveries while controlling costsCoordinate cleaning of the kitchen and dining hall to ensure readiness before and after each group's stayEnsure accurate records are kept, including food safety checks and special dietary requirementsEnsure all catering equipment is maintained and in good working orderAdhere to food safety standards and implement risk assessments as neededTo be considered for this role, you will need:Relevant qualifications in catering, cooking, or a related fieldAt least 5 years of experience in the food service industry, with a strong background in managing kitchen teamsDemonstrated leadership skills and experience building cohesive teamsExcellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with people of all ages and backgroundsStrong focus on customer service, with a commitment to delivering high-quality mealsProficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacyA passion for producing creative, healthy mealsA positive, can-do attitude and a genuine interest in YMCA's missionAt the Y Victoria, we are committed to empowering all Children and Young People to feel safe and be safe.
