Location Profile Wyndham Central College is located in a high growth corridor, approximately 20 minutes west of Melbourne and caters for students in Years 7 to 12 across the Wyndham district. Recent data sets in key areas have demonstrated significant improvement in line with the goals and targets identified in the previous Strategic Plan and reflect the dedication and commitment by the staff.

The Staff at Wyndham Central are committed to delivering a rigorous guaranteed and viable curriculum enhanced by the AVID program that aims to prepare students by developing a set of strategies to support their learning and chosen pathway. The college programs are innovative and challenging and include a 7-10 Enrichment and VHAP program, 7-10 Spanish Immersion Program (SIP), the 9-10 STEM Academy and our flagship schoolwide program AVID. The college is the first school in Australia to achieve certification as an AVID school and is currently recognized as Australia's first secondary Site of Distinction.

To further complement the academic program all students are provided with a Careers Action Plan (CAP), and a learning plan from Year 7 that requires commitment, reflection and regular consultation between student, teacher and parents/carers. This three-way partnership is crucial to the successful progress of all of the students at Wyndham Central College and is supported by an extensive tutor advocate and pastoral support program.

Underpinning the educational improvement plan the College has modern facilities including a Trade Training Centre, a designated Year 7 Centre, Year 8 & 9 Centre, a Year 10 Community and a Senior Years Centre. Dedicated content learning environments for the performing and visual arts, Science and STEM and Gymnasium and sporting facilities. Complementing the whole school buildings is the extensive active/passive landscaping plan and recreational outdoor plan, a student centered study and student services building.

The Leadership Team comprises of the Principal Team- Principal and Assistant Principals with dedicated leadership portfolios, Leading Teachers - Year Level Leaders (Engagement & Wellbeing), Literacy Leader, Numeracy Leader, Pathways & Transitions Leader, AVID pedagogy and operational Leaders, Senior Years Program Manager and Campus Management Leader. The team is complemented by faculty-based Learning Specialists who are our PLC instructional leaders.

Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the implementation of school priorities, and the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum.

SC2 Demonstrated ability to lead the planning and implementation of high impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs. Demonstrated ability to support teachers to evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.

SC3 Demonstrated exemplary ability to monitor and assess student learning at a class, cohort or whole-school level and use this data to lead improvement initiatives. Demonstrated ability to support others in using data to inform teaching practice and to provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

SC4 Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents and the broader school community focused on student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.

SC5 Demonstrated ability to model behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and support colleagues to adopt these behaviours and attitudes. Demonstrated ability to reflect upon their own, others and whole-school practice and contribute to the provision of whole-school professional learning.

Role Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.

Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.

Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.

Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.

Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

Responsibilities In recognition of the importance of leadership and management combined with exemplary teaching practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the leading teachers may include but are not limited to:

Leading and managing the implementation of whole-school improvement initiatives related to the school strategic plan and school priorities. Leading and managing the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery. Leading and managing the provision of professional development and developing individual and team development plans for teaching staff within the priorities of the school. Leading and managing staff performance and development (review of staff). Leading and managing the development of the school's assessment and reporting policies and practices. Leading and managing the implementation of the school operations and policies related to student welfare and discipline. Leading the development of curriculum in a major learning area and participating in curriculum development in other areas. Responsibility for general discipline matters beyond the management of classroom teachers. Contributing to the overall leadership and management of the school. Contributing to the development of proposals for school council consideration. Developing and managing the school code of conduct. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Leading Teachers at Wyndham Central College are members of the Leadership team whose role is to develop, implement and review the school strategic plan and subsequent Annual Implementation Plans whilst leading and being part of highly effective teams.

A key role for all leadership members is in instructional leadership where individuals and the team proactively work to support all teachers to continually improve their individual and collective practice.

Leading teachers will develop an Annual Performance plan within the performance management process, and it is expected that the plan will allow scope for the leading teacher to clearly demonstrate their ability to meet the professional standards. All leading teachers will manage the annual performance process for groups of staff which may include the Talent Management Framework, or similar middle leadership development programs.

All Leaders at Wyndham Central College are expected to: Contribute positively to Year Level Leadership and the School Improvement Team and be a member or various teams and committees. Lead and implement tier one and two school wide positive behaviour practices. Work with the leadership team to interpret school data, and to develop the capacity of staff to use this data to improve student outcomes. Plan for the improvement of learning outcomes for identified tier 2 and 3 students (who have diverse learning needs or behaviour support plans) including participating in SSGs and helping develop IEPs and collecting data from teachers. Lead positive tier 1 interventions, coaching and mentoring staff as required and building year level tier 1 plans. Undertake and conduct performance and development review. Work with the leadership team to plan and organise the professional learning days. Plan, attend and support school events including camps, open afternoons, subject expo and presentation night, etc. Develop material for school publications including the newsletter, the website, and relevant handbooks to showcase student achievements. Mentor and support the induction of new staff. Be responsible for program budgets as required by the role. Plan and conduct meetings including agendas and minutes relevant to the role. Model exemplary ethical behaviour aligned with DE and School values and exercise informed judgements in all professional dealings with students, colleagues and the community. Deputize for the Principal class team, when required, and assume responsibility for College management. Other duties as directed by the Principal. VIT LANTITE To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching. In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements. This condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian Initial Teacher Education program completed by the person.
