MIRRAT is located in Port Melbourne and is a 3 berth, 187,000 sqm facility with 14,500 car slots.
We offer a range of integrated on-wharf solutions including vessel berthing, vehicle storage, quarantine washing, and logistics for a wide range of automotive, rolling equipment, and breakbulk products.

The MIRRAT Team handles a broad range of shipment and cargo types including well-known vehicle, mining, and agricultural equipment brands, as well as a wide range of other cargo types including specialty cars, boats, caravans, helicopters, and everything in between.

About the role
MIRRAT has an exciting opportunity in our Planning & Cargo Team for an experienced and self-motivated Yard Planner, to manage the throughput of new and used vehicles, high and heavy, and breakbulk cargo through the facility.
Reporting to the Planning & Cargo Manager, you will ensure planning, scheduling, and allocation of all service-related activities including cargo receiving, cargo delivery, yard allocation, berth allocation, and equipment allocation is planned, executed, and followed up with timely updates of relevant systems and customer notifications.

Responsibilities
Ensure yard, cargo, and berth allocation, prioritization and execution are done according to relevant processes, policies, and guidelines in a fair and equitable manner, including liaison and coordination of labor hire contractors.
Effective and efficient management of the terminal planning process to ensure cargo throughput is optimized.
Liaising with key customers including Stevedores, Shipping Lines, Carriers, and OEMs.
Systems input, data entry, and systems maintenance/improvements to ensure optimal use of resources.
Tracking of performance through agreed KPIs and systems, identifying improvement areas and implementing (agreed) improvement areas.
Support the overall objectives of MIRRAT, including working closely with other internal (i.e., Yard Operations) and external stakeholders (i.e., cargo owners) to achieve optimal results and performance.
Host and report daily Stevedore meetings.
Work closely with terminal users and carriers to ensure yard is processed efficiently.
Data tracking and forecasting.
Update and maintain the MIRRAT vessel schedule.
What you will need to succeed
A tertiary qualification in Logistics, International Trade, Economics, Business Management, or similar is advantageous.
Tertiary qualification and/or proven experience utilizing DMAIC and Six Sigma in Logistics principles advantageous.
Minimum of 5 years experience in the supply chain, logistics, and planning functions.
Must have a highly technical aptitude and understanding.
Ability to implement and manage contracted key performance indicators.
Critical and lateral thinking, allowing for the identification of process improvements that add value.
Solid understanding of the requirements of Government agencies in Australia, pertaining to Quarantine and Customs.
Outstanding leadership skills, managing teams to consistently achieve contract requirements and deliver value for clients.
Strong customer and interpersonal relationship skills, an approachable personality, and a positive can-do attitude.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
