What will your essential responsibilities include?

Support the Australian Branch production of APRA regulatory submissions, ICAAP Report, Regulatory Forecasts and FCR; Assist to prepare the local Strategic Plan / Budget / Forecast and prepare Business Plan for APRA submission.
Monitor the Australian Branch's profitability including challenging product lines performance; produce relevant underwriting results and packs for the local ExCo and BU.
Analyse key KPIs against Budget.
Support the Branch's Chief Actuary by providing financial information and analysis.
Perform modelling and scenario analysis on the Branch's risk appetite and establish capital management strategies.
Manage cash flows to ensure sufficient cash to meet operational needs of all relevant entities.
Support various processes including PTRS, FX management, Interaction between Group business plan & reforecast, and local Business plan and reforecast and Investment strategy to define the best capital efficiency/income outcome.
Ensure the risk register is updated at least annually and all Finance related Risk and related policies are updated annually.
Manage the ICAAP Report & Summary Statement in collaboration with CFO.
Establish a control framework around the ledger (including a review of the local_adj ledger, regular review of manual entries posted).
Support the documentation of Reinsurance Arrangements twice a year.
Perform Finance Department operations such as overseeing the on-time submission of relevant tax returns and submissions, expense management through the relevant T&E system and controlling expenditure.
Perform ad hoc analysis and support the CFO in various tasks as required.
Lead or supervise both Global and Local Projects such as ESL decommissioning, process documentation & cash forecasting.

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
Finance: Extensive experience in General Insurance Finance, with good understanding of the technical drivers of insurance profit and balance sheet movements.
Legal & Regulatory Knowledge: Strong knowledge of APRA GI regulations and ATO tax requirements.
Strong Collaborator: Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal customers.
Strong Communicator: Proven verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills.
Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across cultures.
Results Oriented: Approach tasks proactively, prioritize.
Strong analytical and sound judgment skills with the ability to take initiative and to work independently.
Continuous Improvement Focused: Willing to ask questions and explore new ideas.
Eager to learn and focused on continuously improving technical skills and AXA XL claims capabilities.
Customer Service: High dedication to client, team and vendor relations evidencing professionalism and diplomacy in all situations.
Ethical approach: Have an impeccable reputation for ethics, integrity and the highest standards of professionalism.
Education: Bachelor's degree and post degree qualifications (CA or CPA).
