We have an urgent need for a grades 3-5 teacher! Come and teach at the WASC accredited Ukarumpa International School – Primary Campus, in the cool highlands of Papua New Guinea. It is attended by 150 children from preschool to grade 6. We have a new school, good resources, supportive parents, and a committed and professional teaching staff. Face the challenge of teaching children from as many as 14 different countries in English whilst at the same time integrating a Christian worldview into your lessons. And, in all of this, you are supporting the eternal work of Bible translation!
Responsibilities: Appropriately plan for, and carry out, instruction of grade or age level, using the curriculum and/or textbook guides and a variety of materials and media. Prepare, administer and correct tests in accordance with school standards and procedures. Develop and maintain student records of attendance and grades as required by the school. Maintain order in the classroom and on the playground. Understand and empathize with children growing up in cross-cultural situations, and provide supportive activities and Christian counsel. Encourage awareness and understanding of cultural differences. Prepare quarterly student progress reports. Assist in pupil extra-curricular activities, inspiring and encouraging the physical, mental, and spiritual development of pupils to their greatest potential. May assist the entity in other additional areas of activity not necessarily associated with the school during school vacations, etc. Qualifications: Valid teaching certificate or equivalent. Minimum of 1 year teaching experience. Qualities: Team player. Servant heart. Flexible. Love working with children. Comfortable in a multi-cultural setting. Language and Culture Training: Some language and culture training course would be helpful. Orientation and Training: Orientation workshops, held at our National Centre in Kangaroo Ground, Victoria.
