About the role: The Integrated Women's Health Hub (IWHH) – South Cairns has been established under Wuchopperen Health Service as part of the Queensland Government's Women's and Girl's Health Strategy. The Hub provides women and girls access to health and health related care and support through a safe women friendly space with the simplicity of service navigation, provision of flexible holistic care, and free services provided by a diverse workforce.
The Practice Manager is supervised by the Director Health Services and has supervisory responsibilities for the Coordinator Integrated Women's Health Hub, Nurse Navigator (IWHH), Mental Health Social Worker (IWHH) and General Practitioners (IWHH). This position works closely with other members of the Integrated Women's Health Hub and maintains regular contact with other program staff to ensure effective outcomes for clients.
Key responsibilities: Lead a multi-disciplinary team to ensure quality Hub services and practices are delivered in accordance with the approved service delivery models, operational guidelines standards and procedures. Work in collaboration with the Clinic Coordinator to manage Hub flow, service bookings and rosters. Mentor and coach Clinic Coordinator, Integrated Women's Health Hub to provide for the continued enhancement of skills, knowledge, and abilities in the coordinator role. Manage the Hub's performance and lead strategies, in line with the established Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Led Model of Care and key performance indicators. Maximise revenue by providing comprehensive, holistic and culturally safe primary health care services to clients. Provide daily monitoring and oversight of performance including implementation of strategies to achieve Medicare and performance targets. Develop, review and interpret financial reports, including the ability to analyse data and prepare reports within the parameters of approved budgets ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and contractual arrangements. Gather and record statistical data relevant to measuring performance against agreed indicators and participate in review and evaluation activities. Work collaboratively with a range of key internal and external stakeholders to deliver an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to primary health care which is culturally safe to clients. Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members to improve health literacy, health rights, identification of health trends in service delivery and health gaps in the community. Develop and manage health campaigns and community engagement events. Contribute to the clinic's continuous improvement processes and participate in quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with relevant standards and culturally safe, effective service delivery. Participate in organisational and community activities to advance the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Work within Wuchopperen's Policies and Procedures including the Staff Code of Conduct and the Work Health and Safety requirements and contribute to continuous improvement processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards, safety and effective service delivery. Other duties as required, within your skills, experience and capacity. For applicants to be successful in this role, they should demonstrate: Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures from an historical and contemporary perspective, including the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Extensive experience leading the delivery of high quality, culturally safe services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, preferably in a health or community-controlled organisation, or general medical practice, and a qualification in health, management, human services or related field. Highly developed skills to manage and lead teams and implement supervision and development strategies including the establishment of formal mentoring and coaching arrangements that provide for the continued enhancement of skills, knowledge, and abilities of team members. Extensively developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders as well as effectively advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment, prioritise and meet deadlines, deal with matters of a sensitive and confidential nature. Demonstrated ability to meet and work within the core values and behaviours of Wuchopperen. Qualifications and experience: Diploma level qualifications preferably in Business, Health, Practice Management, Human Services or minimum five (5) years management experience in a similar setting.
Requirements: It is a condition of employment in this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough) and hepatitis B. It is recommended for the employee to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of qualifications and current registration is required to be provided prior to the commencement of duty. It is a condition of employment that all employees are holders of a current and valid 'blue card' or Working with Children Check. This is at your cost. Employment cannot continue or commence if you do not have a 'blue card' or if your 'blue card' is withdrawn or is disqualified. Possession of a current CPR certificate or commitment to obtain within the first six weeks of employment is essential. Possession of a current Queensland "CA" class driver's licence is essential. Commitment to work within the principles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community control including a willingness to develop the leadership of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff. Ability to use Microsoft products and the ability to use or willingness to gain proficiency in the client information management systems.
