Workskil Australia is excited to announce we will be part of the new Parent Pathways Program across Australia!

We are the nation's largest not-for-profit employment services provider, and for over 40 years, we've helped individuals find work and achieve sustained financial and social self-reliance. The Parent Pathways Program is a free pre-employment program that helps parents and guardians of young children to build skills and confidence and prepare for the workforce.

Starting a family is a special and rewarding time, but a lot of parents find themselves in a position at one point or another needing to get back into the workforce, whether it be for financial reasons, or to step into a new career to find professional independence again.

The program aims to address any challenges or concerns within the parent's immediate family to enable them to focus on the future and identify areas of interest and set career goals. Further support with building skills and gaining qualifications is also provided.

Services are tailored to meet parents' needs and support them in overcoming personal barriers to become ready to find work or enter further education when the time is right.

How will a Parent Engagement Coordinator assist parents through servicing of this program?
Undertake a range of promotional activities and events through networking to attract and commence eligible Parents to the Service. Engage with community organisations to build working relationships and employment opportunities. Develop a range of high-quality place-based activities, guest speakers and programs in the Region, as requested by the Parents. Reverse market parents to employers and create opportunities for training, small business support and other education and employment pathways. Coordinate the Parents Advisory Committee in each Region. Provide a calm, respectful, welcoming, and child-friendly service to maintain engagement. Practice an empathetic approach towards parents and their circumstances to help build trusted relationships to achieve positive outcomes.
What skills and experience do Parent Engagement Coordinators need to possess to support parents back into the workforce?
Empathy and understanding of working with Parents experiencing disadvantage, trauma and financial distress. Ability to effectively work with a culturally diverse range of Parents, employers, education and community service providers and staff. Excellent communication skills and ability to engage confidently with internal and external organisations. Excellent writing skills to write resumes, cover letters, assessments, referrals and case notes. Strong Labour Market knowledge. A minimum Diploma level qualification in a relevant field such as (but not limited to) Social Work, Community Services, Employment Services, Education or Early Childhood Education and Care, Health or Society and Culture, OR demonstrated experience in human or employment services, or similar field.
The Application Process

If the Parent Engagement Coordinator role is of interest to you and you're genuinely interested in making a difference, we'd love to hear from you. To apply, we'll need a resume and cover letter telling us why you're a fit for the role.
