Workshop Technician

To survey, disassemble, repair, evaluate, support, assemble and test various STATS tools/services and equipment at Onshore, Offshore and Client locations, while ensuring that a quality product and service is provided to the client at all times.
Act as a main point of contact for clients while offshore/at client locations.
Directly Reports To Operations Manager External Relationships Clients and Suppliers Main Responsibilities Survey, disassemble, repair, evaluate, assemble and test tools/equipment to standards/procedures set out by STATS and STATS customers/clients. FAT involvement to create the link between workshop and field. Maintain a high standard of quality to the STATS products and services. Work in a safe manner to protect colleagues, visitors and clients on site. Carry out the movement of material/equipment within the shop area. Report all defects to material, components or equipment to the Operations Manager. Ensure all relevant drawings, procedures and instructions are to the latest revisions prior to work commencing. Aid in the proposal and introduction of new assembly and testing techniques to improve productivity or safety. Liaise with the Operations Manager on any issues arising. Report any environmental and health and safety issues that arise. Work within STATS standards and company procedures at all times. Participate in environmental, health and safety issues. Perform any other duties required by the Operations Manager. Aid in the creation of risk assessments as required. Liaison with the Operations Manager on any material, customer/project issues. Help in the proposal and introduction of new safety equipment. Maintain material certification and traceability for all material used. Aid PE's and Operations Manager in the selection of tooling and capital equipment. While this role is mainly workshop-based, the level of activity in the region may dictate additional support in the field. If so, the following expectations apply:
Field Responsibilities Travel to onshore/offshore sites both in Australia and overseas to support STATS operational requirements. Maintain a high standard of quality to the STATS products and services. Report all defects to material, components or equipment to the Operations Manager. Ensure all relevant drawings, procedures and instructions are to the latest revisions prior to work commencing. Proactively propose and introduce new assembly and testing techniques to improve productivity or safety. Liaise with the Operations Manager on any issues arising. Be involved in environmental, health and safety issues. Aid in the creation of risk assessments as required. Liaison with the Field Supervisor or Project Engineer on any material, client/project issues. Help in the proposal and introduction of new safety equipment. Ensure all gauge/inspection equipment is correct and current prior to use. Perform any other duties required by the Operations Manager if at STATS premises. Support other departments as required. Internal Training Requirements Environmental Awareness STATS Internal Courses – Basic and Intermediate Level Qualifications Mechanical trade with good all-round understanding of assembly and pressure testing techniques. All-round experience of oilfield processes and safety controls. Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge Competent understanding of engineering drawings, engineering terminologies and assembly and pressure testing equipment. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/specifications. Use of assembly and test equipment and test tools in a safe manner. Ability to use inspection equipment. Full understanding of various methods of assembly and testing. Ability to work on own initiative. Skill in planning methods of assembly and testing. Work as part of a team to meet client lead times. Represent the company in a professional and effective manner. Personal Qualities Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Ability to motivate self and others. Team player. Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities Ability to work as part of a small, focused team. Flexibility and shift working on occasions required. Ability to use lifting equipment effectively. Understanding of environment and health and safety.
