We have an exciting opportunity for a Workshop Manager to assist our Portland Operations.
ABOUT THE ROLE The primary purpose of the Workshop Manager is to effectively manage the workshop staff, facilities, and equipment to provide the maximum number of mechanically sound vehicles possible to meet the organisations production requirements.
Specific Responsibilities Lead and manage the fleet maintenance, including efficient and effective utilization of staff, financial, information and resourcesDevelops and maintains the fleet maintenance business plan in line with branch and corporate business objectivesContributes to the development and implementation of strategies, policies and systems to support branch managerManage a team of mechanics and engineersMonitor and mentor apprentices to ensure they are adequately trained and signed off to reach their qualificationsCommunicate with transport department to organize service times and dates on a daily/weekly basis for trucks and trailersManage staff fatigue, overtime, and establish a after hours call out rosterDevelop procurement plans to ensure ongoing supply of services, parts and consumables essential to meet the requirements of scheduled maintenance and unplanned repairsArrange best prices for parts and control and record workshop stores, oils, grease and consumablesEstablishes and maintains supplier relationships and monitors contractor performanceInterrogate and sign off on commercial invoices, follow up on discrepancies and arrange appropriate creditsMonitors and reports on progress of fleet maintenance programs in relation to budgets, delivery time lines and services as required by the Service ManagerProvide a weekly maintenance/service report to the Service & transport manager for reviewEnsures health and safety regulations are adhered to and make recommendations for improvement.Promote safe work environments by conducting safety audits, attending monthly safety committee meetings and meeting with individual staff membersMeet all the SHS KPI obligations to ensure staff safety, including risk assessments & safety engagements.Recommend capital expenditures for acquisitions of new equipment and machinery major component replacement in order to increase efficiency and servicesPrepare management recommendations, such as proposed changes to scheduling and the daily running of the workshop and the functioning of the storeAnalyse expenditures and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies and budgets for increasing profits improvementsManage the workshop within monthly and annual budget constraintsManage fleet software data base records, entering kms, repairs, servicing, P/O, manualsTake good care and maintenance of company equipment ensuring all equipment is compliant and in good working order with appropriate training and instruction to safely use specialized toolingManage staff performance and engage staff regularly to meet productivity requirementsUndertake disciplinary procedures as requiredQualifications and Experience Hold current MC truck licenseDesirable high risk license for forkliftRelevant experience in a similar positionStrong leadership and relationship management skillsA professional and positive attitude when dealing with people at all levelsExcellent communication skills – written and verbalThe ability to continually prioritize and deliver quality data on timeInnovation and idea generation in relation to logistics issuesWhy QUBE?
