Southern Steelworks, a renowned and well-established structural steel fabrication company operating for over 20 years, is seeking a skilled Workshop Manager to join our team.
As the Workshop Manager, you will play a vital role in overseeing our fabrication operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and timely completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage the workshop team, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to maximize productivity and efficiency.Oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the workshop, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management.Read and interpret technical plans, specifications, and drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of structural steel components.Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure adherence to industry standards and client specifications.Monitor inventory levels, anticipate material requirements, and collaborate with procurement teams to ensure the availability of necessary resources.Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety among the workshop staff.Identify opportunities for process improvement, implement best practices, and drive operational excellence.Requirements: Proven experience in a leadership role directly related to structural steel fabrication, preferably with managerial experience.Strong personal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with workshop staff, project managers, and clients.Proficient in reading and interpreting engineers drawings, specifications, and detailed shop drawings related to structural steel fabrication.Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Strong problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to resolving challenges.Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to structural steel fabrication.Familiarity with fabrication equipment, tools, and processes used in the steel fabrication industry.At Southern Steelworks, we offer a supportive and collaborative work environment, competitive compensation package, and opportunities for career growth and development.
