About the role:   The Workshop Leading Hand Retail Side plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the Erskine Park workshop.
This role involves hands-on mechanical work, overseeing the day-to-day tasks of workshop staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality mechanical repairs for our Customers while providing strong leadership and mentorship to team members including our apprentices.
The ideal candidate must possess a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to foster a positive team environment, ensuring that staff adhere to safety protocols and perform their tasks efficiently.
This role is suited for an experienced plant mechanic who thrives in a leadership position and is passionate about maintaining high standards of work and fostering team development.
Some of the key responsibilities include:   Oversee the daily operations of the retail workshop, ensuring that all jobs are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Allocate tasks to team members according to skill level and project requirements.
Provide leadership to the team and apprentices by setting clear objectives, managing workloads, and promoting a culture of excellence.
Monitor staff performance, providing feedback and addressing any performance issues in a timely manner.
Assist with the maintenance of accurate records related to jobs, time tracking, and inventory management.
Promote a safe working environment by ensuring that all workshop staff adhere to health and safety regulations Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments Help develop the skills of team members by identifying training needs and encouraging professional development.
Foster an environment of teamwork and collaboration, encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing.
What you will need to be successful in this role: Certificate III Mobile Plant Technology (or equivalent qualification).
Proven experience in a leadership role within an earthmoving workshop or similar environment.
Extensive hands-on experience in plant equipment repairs and maintenance.
Sound understanding of safety and compliance requirements in a workshop setting.
Previous experience in mentoring or training junior staff is highly desirable.
Proficiency in using mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment, and workshop management software.
