Position Purpose
WSOs are to conduct works safety functions, worksite supervision (airside including the movement and maneuvering areas), vehicle escorting at the Airport in accordance with the standard operating procedures:

- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and the health and safety of other people in the workplace
- Comply with health and safety policies and procedures, including the investigation and reporting of hazards and incidents to your manager
- Comply with any reasonable instruction related to health and safety
- Do not interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interest of health and safety
- Understand and reinforce the requirements of WH&S to keep our people safe
- Meet company WHS requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of aircraft operations in accordance with the standards for aerodrome works and the applicable AWP and/or MOWP
- Ensure that where applicable, the aerodrome works are notified by issuance of a NOTAM and that the text of each NOTAM is exactly as set out in the applicable MOWP
- On a daily basis, supply ATC with whatever information is necessary to ensure the safety of aircraft operations
- On a daily basis, discuss with the contractor performing the works any matters necessary to ensure the safety of aircraft operations
- Ensure the unserviceable portions of the movement area, temporary obstructions and the limits of the works area are correctly marked and lit in accordance with Paragraph 10.10.8 of the MOS Part 139 and the applicable AWP and/or MOWP
- Ensure that the vehicles, plant and equipment carrying out aerodrome works are properly marked and lit or are under the supervision of the WSO or within properly marked and lit works areas
- Ensure the contractor performing the works which is being supervised by the WSO complies with all other requirements of the directions of the AWP and/or MOWP relating to vehicles, plant and equipment and materials
- Ensure that access routes to work areas are in accordance with the applicable AWP and/or MOWP and clearly identified and that access is restricted to those routes
- Ensure that excavation is carried out in accordance with the AWP and/or MOWP so as to avoid damage or loss of calibration to any underground power and control cables associated with a precision approach and landing system or any other navigational aid
- Immediately report to ATC and the Senior Airport Operations and WSO any incident or damage to facilities likely to affect air traffic control services or the safety of aircraft
Qualification
- Either a CAT 3 or CAT 4 ADA
- Current class C drivers licence
- Radio Proficiency Certificate (CAT 3 & 4)
- Current ASIC Security Licence

Knowledge Experience
- Sound awareness of the Airport Emergency Plan and the Airport Security Program
- Sound understanding of operations and systems of the Airport
- Sound knowledge of AVCH radio telephony procedures
