About our team Chief Operating Officer Group | People Division | People Strategy & Engagement | Workforce Reform Workforce Reform are part of the People Engagement, Planning and Innovation Branch in the People Division.
The Branch is responsible for the design and delivery of the Department's overarching people and workforce capability strategies to ensure the workforce is equipped and supported to deliver on its business objectives that contribute to the broader Departmental outcomes.

The Workforce Reform section is comprised of 4 portfolios: The APS Reform and Future of Work portfolio is the central point of contact for APS Reform and guides the broader department to adopt and operationalise a range of APS Reform priorities and initiatives, to drive continuous improvement, strengthen capability and help to build an outwardly engaged department.
The Employee Engagement and Action portfolio is responsible for undertaking people related employee engagement via the Survey Framework to help the Department better understand employee experiences, across the entire employee lifecycle.
This enables action to be taken in the right areas and measurement of results for maximum impact.
The survey framework complements the APS Employee Census and includes our traditional approach to pulse surveys, exit surveys, and candidate surveys.
The Employee Experience portfolio takes an 'outside in' approach to understanding the employee journey, identifying key moments that matter and designing an experience that enables empowerment and engagement.
This portfolio has carriage of Employee Value Proposition, workplace culture initiatives, such as Culture Hub, national and local charities, Workplace Giving program and provides the Secretariat function to Leadership and Culture Advisory Council.
We also administer the Flexible Work Playbook.
The Workforce Strategy and Programs portfolio develops innovative and strategic workforce solutions and initiatives through targeted people and workforce strategies and plans, aimed at enhancing workforce capability and consequently operational resilience and performance.

Eligibility To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and: ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
