Primary objective: Provide client-focussed advice and support to NT Public Sector agencies and employees to assist them with the management of employee health matters.
Context statement: Workforce Services (Human Resources) are delivered to client agencies under a centralised services model across a geographically and culturally diverse environment.
The Workforce Management Officer provides support and advice to clients on work health-related matters.
Key duties and responsibilities: Provide human resources (HR) advice and services to clients on employment matters with a health overlay including fitness for duty and return to work for injured or unwell employees; death in service; workplace incident supports; early intervention; and advice regarding independent medical examination for an employment matter.
Provide advice and support for employees with a disability (or their manager) who may require workplace adjustments.
Assist senior members of the team with facilitated discussions with employees and managers regarding medical related issues generally with a view to reaching agreeable outcomes for all stakeholders.
Develop and maintain effective partnerships with clients and other stakeholders.
Prepare submissions and reports to agency delegates as required.
Selection criteria: Essential: Experience and contemporary knowledge of operational HR service delivery.
Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to establish collaborative relationships at all levels and the ability to respond to people in emotional distress.
Demonstrated planning, problem solving and organisational skills, including the effective management of multiple tasks with different deadlines.
Well-developed experience interpreting and applying legislation to different circumstances.
Well-developed written communication skills with the ability to research information and then prepare documentation to progress a matter.
Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, innovative and respectful.
Desirable: Knowledge and understanding of the Public Sector Employment and Management Act, Police Consent Agreement, or the ability to obtain.
Experience successfully working in injury management related services.
