It features purpose-built modern amenities including medical wards, a cultural centre and vocational training facilities. It also utilises cutting-edge technology to keep the facility secure, allowing staff to focus on supporting the rehabilitation of people in custody.
Western Plains will open mid-2025 and Corrections Victoria are now recruiting key roles to help shape the future operations of the facility.
About the role As part of the Workforce and Prison Services (WPS) team, the Workforce Engagement Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the facility is equipped to meet its staffing objectives now and into the future. This involves providing expertise in workforce capacity and capability, ensuring the right employment types are recruited and that our workforce has the necessary skills and support.
As the Workforce Engagement Officer, you'll collaborate with teams across the facility to implement effective onboarding and workforce management processes through innovative solutions and data-driven insights. You'll play a key role in developing and maintaining the employee engagement strategy to foster positive experiences across our teams, as well as support managers with workforce related activities and HR enquiries. You'll also gather and analyse employee engagement metrics to support and inform the implementation of key initiatives.
About you You are an adaptable team player with the ability to build professional relationships across various teams and stakeholders. By fostering a positive work culture of listening and feedback, you'll ensure employee voices are heard and considered as we develop key initiatives.
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
A qualification in HR management Relevant experience in a strategic HR/staff engagement role Demonstrated experience in providing corporate support services to government or large private organisations Experience with Microsoft Windows and MS Office suite How to apply The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include national police checks and misconduct screening.
