We seek an experienced, motivated Workers' Compensation Claims Manager for this newly created role with Amazon. You will be responsible for providing exceptional support and care to our associates, as well as partnering with internal stakeholders to develop a recovery at-work culture.
You will be involved in embedding, administering and monitoring programs, strategies, and processes that support our growing business and ensure compliance with all applicable legislative frameworks. You will build internal stakeholder capability and create standards through effective collaboration and data analysis.

Reporting to the Sr. Workers' Compensation Manager, you will work cross-functionally with members from various internal teams to ensure our associates are appropriately supported with compensable injuries or illnesses.

This national role predominately supports injury management in Melbourne.


Key job responsibilities
• Acts as the point of notification and contact for associates and internal stakeholders regarding any incident or injury that could or has resulted in a Workers' Compensation claim.
• Drives stakeholder compliance with Workers Compensation regulations and Amazon procedures and processes to influence positive business and individual outcomes.
• Proactively manage workers' compensation claims to minimize lost time, facilitate sustainable return to work outcomes, and promote best practice injury management support.
• Advise, coach, collaborate and proactively support injured associates, managers, HR, WHS, and all relevant internal stakeholders on return-to-work processes to facilitate positive outcomes that align with operational needs.
• Implement early intervention strategies and processes to assist injured associates in returning to work that is reflective of medical guidelines.
• Manage and develop tailored return-to-work plans with relevant stakeholders.
• Review claims costs with the Insurers and formulate strategies to minimize the financial impacts of disability on the business.
• Manage appeals processes for each claim within the designated customer group.
• Manage claims administrative needs to ensure case management processes are followed.
• Facilitate training and development initiatives as required with key stakeholders.
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement through review of claims performance from reporting, data analysis, and qualitative review with relevant stakeholders.
• Available for domestic and potentially international travel.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Melbourne, VIC, AUS
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS• 5+ years of industry experience across national workers' compensation frameworks (occupational rehabilitation, occupational health, insurance, or case management)
• In-depth knowledge and solid understanding of VIC and NSW workers' compensation legislation
• Bachelor's degree in a field related to occupational health and safety, claims/injury management and allied health.
• Return to Work Coordinator certification
• Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to negotiate and collaborate effectively
• Experience with occupational injury management/recovery at work programs
• An understanding of evidence-based recovery at work approaches, biopsychosocial approaches to health
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS• Strong capacity to deal with ambiguity and a constantly transforming environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to professionally communicate both verbally and written with stakeholders, recognizing and appropriately responding to others' perspectives.
