This Opportunity The Worker and Family Preparedness Senior Manager will lead initiatives across Australia, the Pacific, and Timor-Leste aimed at preparing workers and their families for temporary employment in Australia under the PALM scheme. This role will focus on minimizing the logistical, social, emotional, and financial challenges workers face to ensure that the benefits of their employment are maximized for them, their families, and their communities. The position will foster whole-of-system stakeholder engagement, developing strategies that support Labour Sending Units and country engagement throughout the worker and family journey. This includes exploring collaboration opportunities with external actors and stakeholders and acting on recommendations from internal and external reviews. Additionally, the role will align worker preparation with broader skills strategies, linking to DFAT investments to enhance the overall impact.
This is a fixed term opportunity required for 4 years with possibility of extension.
The Worker & Family Preparedness Senior Manager will be responsible for:
Collaborate with governments, PLMSP country programs, Worker and Family Agency (WAFA) teams, and key stakeholders in Australia and PALM sending countries to evaluate and improve worker and family preparedness interventions, ensuring continuous enhancement of strategies and plans.Oversee the development and implementation of worker and family preparedness strategies across training, knowledge, and learning management, while maximizing opportunities and addressing challenges and high-level risks.Collaborate with the WAFA Lead to manage the Worker and Family Preparedness Team, overseeing the entire employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, task allocation, mentoring, capability building, performance management, career development, and exit processes.Position Requirements: We are seeking an individual who will bring:
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (international development, education, social work, community work) and 10-15 years of experience in international development, project management, and labour mobility programs, with a focus on family support, community development, or social services, preferably in the Pacific.Demonstrated experience managing and coordinating teams across culturally diverse contexts and multiple countries.Proven experience in managing budgets and resources to ensure the timely execution of deliverables.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders across diverse cultural contexts, build partnerships, and work both independently and collaboratively.
