A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.About the OpportunityThe Safety Management Plan Work Package Lead will be responsible for the coordination and creation of the comprehensive development of ASC's Safety Management Plan and Prospectus for the SSN-AUKUS build program. The work package lead will create the framework for the SSN-AUKUS build programme nuclear safety arrangements, including but not limited to; a Safety Management Charter (Company nuclear safety policy), Safety Management Prospectus (organisational focus) and Safety Management System (process focus), and Nuclear Safety Management Plan (procedure and evidence focus). The work package lead shall also assist in safety case planning as required including the through life safety case structure, and the development of delivery requirements and schedule of high-level safety artefacts.This role is required to work closely with the regulation coordination lead as the safety artefacts generated are to be compliant to the stringent needs to the regulator. Additionally, this role will assist in adopting Nuclear Mindset Principles within ASC and the wider enterprise nuclear culture transformation.The Work Package Lead will collaborate with the nuclear team in addition to the wider SSN AUKUS Infrastructure and Build Readiness IPTS, to ensure a smooth transition between license holders throughout the build process. This role will lead and manage other engineers/SMEs to ensure program delivery timescales.This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia.Note: This role is established early in ASCs Nuclear pathway. Therefore, this role will change with the evolving needs of the business.This is a full-time opportunity based at our Osborne site in SA.ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of nuclear safety arrangements within the SSN AUKUS Build Program and manage the safety management system through the different phases of the build.Develop the through life safety case for the build facilities and processes to ensure regulatory approval.Engage with ASA, ANI and ANNPSR to ensure the success of this work package through regulatory approval.Ensure all nuclear activities comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards. Conduct safety assessments and implement necessary measures to mitigate risks.Liaise and work with internal & external stakeholders to support the nuclear requirements into the business.Provide technical leadership and support to the Nuclear and Capability Department (NCD).Identify and mitigate risks associated with nuclear operations. Develop and implement risk management plans to address potential issues and ensure the safety and reliability of nuclear systems.Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, including project updates, technical reports, and regulatory compliance. Provide regular updates on nuclear operations.As the NSQEP, demonstrate a dedication to excellence and an unwavering commitment to safety, security and safeguards across the organisation.About youTertiary Qualifications in Engineering, Nuclear, Safety or a related field. A Master's or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering is highly desirable.Chartered Engineer or equivalent certification in nuclear engineering.7+ years' experience within nuclear safety or safety within another high-risk industry.Demonstrated experience in leading complex and multifaceted programs, requiring a deep understanding of safety arrangements, safety regulations and risk management.Experience coordinating with a team of technical personnel in complex and unique industrial environments.Efficient and effective reporting, documentation and communication skills, whilst engaging with multiple stakeholders and priorities simultaneously.Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, coupled with proven negotiation skills.Self-motivated, and able to manage ambiguity in complex environments and visualise solutions.Exceptional and effective time management, planning and organizational skills.Ability to consistently and positively manage multiple stakeholders and priorities simultaneously.Decision making ability and leadership skills.Specific experience within the Defence Shipbuilding or Nuclear Industries will be highly regarded.Experience delivering nuclear projects / cultural transformation / role identification will be highly regarded.EligibilityThis role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level.
