St James Catholic College - Cygnet, part of Catholic Education Tasmania, is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Work Health & Safety Support professional for an ongoing part-time position.
Work Health & Safety Support 7.2 Hours Per Week (.16 FTE) Ongoing (Term Time Only – 40 weeks per year) The school is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced Work Health and Safety Support Officers who are able to demonstrate a commitment to the aims and philosophy of Catholic Education.
In this vital role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring a safe and secure environment for our learning community. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Actively contribute to developing the school's safety culture, WHS focus and legislative compliance.Oversee, implement, and update the school's WHS policies and procedures with adherence to the school WHS annual plan.Manage and schedule school staff training in areas of Work Health and Safety and maintain a current register.Manage the completion of regular safety-related audits, inspections, and record keeping.Conduct necessary investigations into incidents and provide effective support for the long-term control of any identified risks.Manage and maintain the currency of the school's emergency plans as well as prepare and review scheduled drills.To be eligible, applicants require:
Valid Working with Vulnerable People Registration (Tasmania)National Police CheckHigh level interpersonal and organisational skillsA willingness to work in a team environmentThe ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Work Health & Safety, preferably with experience in an educational setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will interact with staff, students, and external authorities. A keen eye for detail, problem-solving abilities, and a firm commitment to continuous improvement are also highly desirable.
