About the role As the Work Health Safety & Permit Coordinator, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the health & safety compliance across all Darwin Port operations.
You will advise and support Darwin Port employees, stakeholders and contractors in all aspects of WHS management and processes, including risk assessments, incident reporting, and permit to work.
Based at East Arm Wharf this role offers the opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic and challenging environment.
What you'll be doing Manage the Permit to Work program, including assessing permit applications, conducting field inspections & coordinating meetings & risk assessment workshopsConduct workplace inspections, staff inductions and risk assessments Manage the Verification of Competency (VOC) systemAssist with the development, implementation and review of work health and safety policies, procedures and systemsProvide guidance and support to employees and contractors on work health and safety requirementsConduct safety inspections, audits and investigations to identify and mitigate risksEnsure compliance with all relevant health & safety legislation and regulationsCollaborate with stakeholders to continuously improve safety performance and practicesAssist in implementing, executing, and delivering environmental assigned tasks, activities, and projectsWhat we're looking for Certificate IV level qualification in Work Health & Safety as a minimumCertificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment Five plus years experience in a Work Health and Safety Coordinator or similar role, preferably in the maritime industryKnowledge and experience with permit issuing In-depth knowledge of NT work health and safety legislation, regulations and best practicesTertiary qualification in Environmental Science or an environmentally related discipline is desirableExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage othersStrong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify and mitigate risksDemonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a teamYou will be expected to carry out your position in alignment with the Darwin Port values of Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, Honesty and Safety.
