The opportunity We are seeking a dynamic and professional WHS Manager committed to employee well-being. You will play a critical role maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for our growing organisation. As a trusted advisor your responsibilities include policy implementation, expert guidance on WHS matters, strategic planning, and hands-on execution of safety programs ensuring that the organization complies with all relevant legislation.
Some Key Responsibilities: Act as an advisor to leaders and employees on all WHS matters, whilst having regard to relevant legal frameworks, policies, procedures and the Hostplus enterprise agreement. Ensure that adequate systems and controls are in place to enable Hostplus to comply with all relevant workplace health and safety laws across all jurisdictions in which it operates. Chair the WHS Committee and ensure that the group is performing all required duties including (but not limited to), completing safety inspections across all office locations, emergency evacuation drills are regularly conducted, adequate numbers of staff are appointed and trained into safety related roles such as committee members, fire wardens and first aid officers whilst ensuring that any observations are reported and acted upon in a timely manner. Develop and facilitate safety related education in consultation with the Organisational Development team. Maintaining relevant policies, procedures, systems,informationand training programs to support and communicate effective WHS practices across the business. Regular reporting to the Chief People Officer including but not limited to, Board and Committee reports. Ensure workers' compensation insurance arrangements are in place and management of renewals for each office location. Management of and reporting on the Incident and Hazzard registers. Managing and conducting ergonomic assessments. Managing third party safety audits for all office locations, reporting and acting upon any recommendations. Manage workers compensation claims including create and support return to work plans. Assist and where appropriate, lead investigations and reporting of workplace incidents. About you Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar role within corporate environment. Strong knowledge and understanding of national WHS laws and best practice. Some knowledge of human resource management laws and best practices. Experience with injury management, Workcover claims and rehab and return to work programs. The ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders. Strong relationship building and management skills. The ability to work effectively within a high-pressure environment. The ability to provide timely and accurate services to internal & external clients to meet service standards. Strong technical and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail. The ability to identify and implement continuous improvement within current work practices. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Work, Health and Safety, Human Resources, or equivalent. What can we offer you?
