The Role
The APS 6 Work Health and Safety Advisor is accountable under broad direction to undertake complex work health and safety activities. They will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence's mission and business objectives. Accountable for research and analysis activities to identify and address work health and safety risks to capability.
Key activities will include:
Develop and implement work health and safety programs. Provide advice on the application of work health and safety legislation and Defence policies and procedures. Contribute to implementation and continuous improvement of work health and safety management systems in accordance with legislation and Defence policies. Engage with internal and external stakeholders on complex and sensitive work health and safety issues. Work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts to resolve work health and safety issues. Evaluate activities and processes for compliance with work health and safety legislation, policies and procedures. Resolve problems using professional expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action and implications for work health and safety activities. About our Team
Working within NASPO, you will be a key team member within the Business Directorate. This team delivers consistently high standards of outputs for Fleet Air Arm and Navy Aviation, Aircrew Training and Commons Branch. Each role within this team contributes to supporting the delivery of capability for Navy.

Have a considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will be required to multi-task, work under pressure, and demonstrate exceptional organisational skills. Be required to provide detailed work health and safety professional and policy advice in relation to complex work, and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development. Be able to influence others to ensure Work Health & Safety objectives are achieved, and effectively liaise with NASPO and REO staff to ensure the SPO meets Work Health & Safety compliance and reporting requirements.
