Location:
Akaysha's Head Office is based in Melbourne, Cremorne - however we'd also consider candidates based near our offices in Sydney, or Brisbane CBD.
We're open to a hybrid working style; spend time in the office and at home.
Reporting to:
General Manager, Work Health Safety and Environment.
The Role: Akaysha Energy currently has four projects in the NEM in construction, with a strong pipeline to follow - this position will be responsible for providing WHSE expertise and enabling the business to stand up our Operational BESS Sites safely.
Our flagship project, the Waratah Super Battery in NSW is in the final stages of development and the team is building up our suite of systems to hit the ground running. As each of our assets move to operational phases, we are looking for a WHSE Specialist to ensure that we deliver on our value of Safety; every day and every way.
Unlike other BESS Developers, we build, own and operate our assets at Akaysha - in both Australian and International markets; this creates a unique opportunity for a WHSE specialist to be exposed, and involved in the whole project lifecycle (from development to construction, and through to operations and decommissioning).
This position will provide an opportunity to experience building safe systems of work in an upcoming industry; in a business where your voice is heard, and contemporary ideas are welcome. Key responsibilities will include: Shaping and aligning WHSE systems and processes to support safe operations.Coaching and mentoring Site Teams to manage their WHSE duties.Support GM WHSE to administer and embed Safety and Environmental Management systems.Provide expertise on Operational WHSE aspects such as induction design and delivery, permit to work systems, site audit and inspection, incident response, monitoring in all project phases.What you'll bring: WHSE Qualification and/or equivalent experience.Electrical Safety Experience - HV preferred.Digital Safety Systems experience.An understanding of contemporary safety - Human Organizational Principles or a drive and willingness to learn.Experience in environmental management systems (including biodiversity, and ecological obligation support).Please be aware you must be an Australian citizen, hold permanent residency status or have existing AU working rights to apply for this role.
