We are secretive about what we do, not what we value.The opportunityAs a member of our Work Health and Safety team, you will draw on your experience to assess a diverse range of safety risks and provide advice and support to work teams to develop and implement appropriate mitigation strategies to prevent injuries. With a focus on promoting a positive safety culture you will have the opportunity to contribute to ASIO's health, safety and wellbeing programs and actively enhance work practices which are underpinned by relevant legislation.Role responsibilitiesAs an AE4/AE5 Work Health and Safety Officer in ASIO, you will:Take a lead role in the development, maintenance and improvement of safety and wellbeing services, projects and programs.Develop your understanding of WHS legislation and compliance requirements, applying this knowledge to ensure ASIO's safety programs are optimised.Engage professionally with colleagues across the business and with external providers, developing productive and professional relationships.Influence a positive safety and reporting culture across the business, promoting incident reporting and safety/wellbeing programs through effective and creative communication.As an AE6 Work Health and Safety Officer in ASIO, you will:Demonstrate strong leadership on safety, positively influencing ASIO's safety culture and outcomes by applying your strong knowledge of safety systems, risk and legislation (Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth)).Contribute to ASIO's strategic safety risk management program by developing innovative safety solutions, delivering key safety projects, leading the delivery of integrated programs and resolving complex issues to enable critical business/operational activities.Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, managing sensitive information, communicating complex issues and working collaboratively to achieve outcomes.Analyse information and evidence to understand safety hazards, supporting risk owners to identify, assess and manage the risks, and assist with development and implementation of appropriate controls.Provide comprehensive, reliable advice to senior managers, communicating risks effectively to inform decisions about sensitive and complex issues.What you will bringWe invite applications from people with the following attributes:A commitment to the prevention of workplace injury through continuous improvement in safety systems, effective risk management and innovative practices.Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate and work with others to devise new concepts and resolve complex issues.The ability to communicate issues effectively and to a high standard through written and verbal briefs.Sound decision-making and judgement in complex situations while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.Strong organisation skills and the ability to prioritise tasks, manage time carefully and work efficiently to achieve outcomes.The ability to work with a level of independence, exercising sound decision-making and judgement.Demonstrated experience in workplace safety (relevant to the level you are applying for).A qualification in WHS or risk management is desirable but certainly not required.
