About the Role: The Women's Ranger Coordinator leads a team of Indigenous Female Rangers to deliver conservation, land management, and cultural programs. The role collaborates with the Healthy Country Team on the annual Ranger work plan, which includes fire management, wildlife programs, marine patrols, and cultural activities. Additionally, they build the female Rangers' skills through training, mentoring, and resource development. About Us: We are the Traditional Owners of the land and waters along the north-west Kimberley coastline, extending from just north of the Robinson River to the Prince Regent River. It has been our home for many thousands of years. We carry the cultural responsibilities of our ancestors to look after Country. Our Country is of great conservation significance, home to many threatened and endemic species, mighty rivers, coral reefs, powerful whirlpools, rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and more than 700 islands. About the Corporation: Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation (DAC) provides a unique opportunity to work closely with Aboriginal people in one of the most remote, spectacular regions of the Kimberley. DAC is a small Aboriginal Corporation dedicated to the benefit of our members, Dambimangari Traditional Owners. DAC is the governing body for all Dambimangari business on behalf of our members, and in line with traditional Law and Culture. We employ more than 30 staff, the vast majority of whom are Traditional Owners. About the Healthy Country Team: The Healthy Country Team and Ranger program provides jobs for our young people that support them to work on Country and reconnect with culture. We are a team of seven full time and ten casual rangers, both men and women, working on both land and sea Country. What We Are Looking For: You will be someone with a strong logistical mind, practical bush skills and experience in community development or environmental management. You will be comfortable working in a cross-cultural setting, keen to learn about Indigenous culture and explore the remote Kimberley. A team leader and mentor with a passion for building the skills and capacity of female Indigenous Rangers. You are a positive, problem solver who can work under pressure and respond quickly to change in a dynamic, remote, and challenging work environment. Duties will include:

Oversee ranger operations, conservation and land management, and marine operations activities including work planning, budgeting, staffing, logistics and on-ground delivery Coordinate back to country trips and cultural activities to increase opportunities for Traditional Owners Oversee the management and maintenance of infrastructure and assets including vehicles, equipment, and small machinery Supervise and mentor a team of Indigenous female Rangers, including performance reviews and daily operations Build the capacity of female Rangers to step into specialist and senior roles via formal training, mentoring and on the job capacity building, including implementing the training matrix and development framework Provide regular updates to the Dambimangari Healthy Country Committee, Directors, and Members Foster strong relationships with Traditional Owners Contribute to preparation of reports for funders, audits, and partners Support the development of and compliance with safety management systems and procedures

Qualifications and Experience:

Tertiary qualification in natural resource management, environmental science or other relevant discipline or relevant equivalent experience Demonstrated experience delivering conservation and land management programs Experience in problem-solving, project management and logistics, preferably in a remote setting Experience managing and supervising teams, capacity to plan work, motivate staff and monitor performance Experience in community development, training, or capacity building with Indigenous people. Computer literacy including Microsoft suite, experience managing budgets, work plans and reporting. Ability to commit to at least 5 on-country trips, for approximately 3 – 10 days throughout the dry season Practical bush skills and Manual Driver's License Ability to obtain and maintain a Working with Children Check (WWC), National Police Clearance and First Aid Certificate Possess and maintain a level of physical fitness for working in extremely remote, hot, humid Kimberley conditions
