We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling, and withdrawal management services).
The Salvation Army Bridge House is a 7-bed unit offering low-medical withdrawal support to individuals seeking recovery from AOD use.
The unit provides a trauma-informed, client centred space in which individuals can safely withdraw from harmful substance use.
About the role We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Withdrawal Unit Nurse, at our Bridgehouse Withdrawal Unit located in Highgate.
Reporting to the Nurse Team Leader, this is a permanent, part-time position with a variability and flexibility of hours.
The newly developed nursing team includes both Registered and Enrolled Nurses with positions available for both.
The addition of a nursing team to the Bridge House Withdrawal Unit provides the opportunity to enhance our level of client care, improve treatment outcomes and create a bridge between primary health care and specialist AOD services to reduce system fragmentation.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Nurses Award with level to be determined upon candidate's qualifications and role type.
You will successfully Conduct clinical observations including withdrawal assessment using relevant assessment tools.
Administer medication to support participants through the withdrawal process including providing symptomatic relief.
Provide low-medical support to withdrawal participants such as basic wound care, health assessment and screening.
Develop health-related withdrawal treatment plans in collaboration with participants and the broader Bridge House team.
Support participants with co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions, histories of trauma, homelessness and other complex experiences.
Liaise with participant's treating health practitioners, pharmacies and other relevant health services to provide continuity of care.
Registered Nurses will complete a combination of Morning, Evening, Night and Weekend shifts on a rotating roster to ensure all staff work across each shift type.
Enrolled Nurses will work weekday Morning shifts.
You will have Current AHPRA Registration as a Div.
1 Registered Nurse or Div.
2 Enrolled Nurse.
Qualifications in AOD and Mental Health highly regarded.
Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain.
Current unrestricted Western Australian Driver's License.
Demonstrated experience working within the Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health and/or Homelessness sectors.
An understanding of the principles of trauma informed practice.
An understanding of withdrawal management including competence in use of a range of withdrawal monitoring tools and knowledge of withdrawal pharmacotherapy.
Advanced clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work autonomously as well as within a multidisciplinary team.
