Hours Full Time - 38 hours per week (flexible) including some evening and weekend work.
SCHADS Award Level 8(1) - $2,400.77/week plus allowances and superannuation.

WHO WE ARE The Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland (Wildlife Queensland) is the longest-running wildlife conservation organisation in Queensland. For more than 60 years we've worked to protect and conserve at-risk species and habitats, advocating for better environmental policy, delivering vital on-ground conservation programs, and raising awareness of wildlife conservation issues through education and community engagement.
WHO YOU ARE You are an experienced, strategic, dedicated, authentic and impactful leader. You develop strong, supportive, trusting and effective working relationships with employees, board members, volunteers, supporters, major donors, government ministers, MPs, advisors, and media. You have a passion for, and an understanding of, wildlife conservation. You have excellent communication skills and are a confident and competent spokesperson - speaking to media, large groups, decision makers, and philanthropists. You understand advocacy organisations that drive change and the importance of fundraising to enable this work.
ABOUT THE POSITION As Director you will passionately and strategically lead our organisation while growing our influence and effectiveness to achieve outcomes. The Director provides visionary leadership to ensure the successful delivery of Wildlife Queensland's strategic objectives and influence policies and practices that protect and conserve nature.
Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
PROVIDE STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP. In partnership with the Wildlife Queensland Board, provide strategic leadership and develop a Strategic Plan and policy agenda that aligns with Wildlife Queensland's purpose, vision, and goals. Demonstrate and reinforce values and behaviours that inspire commitment and action for Wildlife Queensland's goals and policy agenda. GROW OUR POWER AND INFLUENCE. Generate strategies to achieve community engagement with, and support for, Wildlife Queensland's vision and policy agenda. Lead Wildlife Queensland's advocacy in support of our goals and policy agenda. Develop strong, purpose-driven partnerships and networks in support of Wildlife Queensland's vision and policy agenda. Develop and maintain relationships with the Board, donors, members, branches, interest groups, government representatives, corporates and NGOs to generate income and drive change. DRIVE EFFECTIVE FUNDRAISING. Provide leadership for effective fundraising and ongoing fundraising growth. Build and maintain productive relationships with philanthropic trusts, major donors and individuals to generate donations, grants, bequests and attract. EFFECTIVELY REPRESENT WILDLIFE QUEENSLAND. Provide effective representation of Wildlife Queensland to decision makers, stakeholders and the community. Maintain strong, positive and effective media relations as the lead media spokesperson for Wildlife Queensland. ENSURE EFFECTIVE ORGANISATIONAL MANAGEMENT. Translate Wildlife Queensland's Strategic Plan into operational plans and ensure key objectives are tracked and met. Oversee organisational budget and ensure Wildlife Queensland maintains financial viability. Ensure operational policies are in place and implemented ensuring compliance with all regulations, guidelines and laws. Advise and keep the Board informed on all governance, HR, performance, risk and other related matters, and attend/participate in appropriate Board and subcommittee meetings as required. Report to the Board on Wildlife Queensland's performance, activities and issues in a systematic and timely fashion and ensure all decisions of the Board are carried out faithfully. MANAGE PEOPLE AND CULTURE. Lead and maintain an organisational culture that fosters Wildlife Queensland values of respect for nature and people, integrity, inclusion, science-led, sustainability, and collaboration. Ensure Wildlife Queensland recruits, develops and retains talented staff; creates a positive, productive and inclusive work environment; and ensure staff behaviour reflects Wildlife Queensland's values. Respect First Nations Peoples and their cultures and fostering engagement with First Nations Peoples and organisations. Skills & Experience: High-level interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leaders of government, the community and members in a membership-based organisation. Proven ability in successful fundraising and philanthropy and demonstrated ability to secure, develop and nurture long-term funding relationships with supporters and partners. Excellent advocacy and influencing skills as well as confident and competent public speaking ability. Experience in efficiently and effectively managing the operational and financial outcomes of an organisation or a department, including experience developing and managing budgets and analysing and managing various forms of risk. Demonstrated ability and experience in developing, articulating and successfully implementing compelling campaign strategies and policy advocacy.
