Located on the southern end of the Gold Coast, only one block from the beach, we feature a vibrant collection of Australian and exotic wildlife and operate one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world.We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Wildlife Officer to join our Bird Conservation team.
This role has a focus on our Avian Conservation Program and is based predominantly at the Garima Conservation Reserve and also at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
The successful applicant must hold or be studying Cert III Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care (or equivalent).
Of equal importance, you must be able to deliver high levels of customer service in an energetic, friendly, and professional manner within a busy work environment.About the RoleDuties for this role include, but are not limited to:Managing bird husbandry, breeding, health, and welfare management.Exhibit maintenance and related duties.Opportunities for field work, including radio tracking.Keeper talks and other related duties.Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.This is a Permanent Part-Time position working 16 hours per week (Friday - Saturday).Weekend work is required for this role, so availability for weekend shifts is essential.Pay rate and conditions are under the Amusements, Events & Recreation Award 2010.About YouMust have or be currently working towards Cert III Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care or equivalent.Wildlife handling, husbandry skills, and previous experience as a Bird Keeper are essential.Can deliver a high level of friendly customer service to all domestic & international visitors.Has a high level of energy, communication skills, and teamwork skills.Appropriate fitness to walk long distances, stand for long periods, and the ability to carry/support up to 10kg for a prolonged period.Driver's licence essential & current First Aid qualifications would be an advantage.Must be flexible and reliable with a positive 'can-do' attitude in our team environment.High standard of personal presentation is required.We are a 7-day-a-week operation.
