About Us Wildlife Habitat, nestled at the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest in stunning Port Douglas, is more than a wildlife park—it's an award-winning conservation haven.
As a ZAA-accredited facility, we're home to extraordinary Australian wildlife, including the Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo, Southern Cassowaries, Estuarine Crocodiles, and Northern Koalas.
The Role: Wildlife Keeper We're seeking a dedicated and passionate Wildlife Keeper to join our vibrant team.
This role offers an incredible opportunity to work closely with Australia's most iconic animals, collaborate with a supportive and enthusiastic team, and contribute to meaningful conservation efforts—all while enjoying the stunning tropical surroundings of Port Douglas.
Position Details: • Employment Type: Part-Time or Casual • Location: Wildlife Habitat, Port Douglas, QLD • Start Date: Immediate Key Responsibilities Animal Care: Provide daily cleaning, maintenance, and health checks to ensure the welfare of our diverse animal collection.
Nutrition & Enrichment: Apply knowledge of diet and enrichment to promote the physical and psychological health of our animals.
Public Presentations: Deliver engaging presentations featuring reptiles, birds, and mammals to educate and inspire guests.
Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with team members to maintain high standards of animal care and guest experience.
Observation & Record Keeping: Exhibit strong observation skills and maintain accurate records using Species360.
The Ideal Candidate We're seeking an experienced Wildlife Keeper who shares our passion for animal welfare and education.
Skills & Experience: Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care or an equivalent qualification.
Minimum of 1-year paid experience in the animal industry, with preference for those experienced in koala handling.
Knowledge of animal conditioning and positive reinforcement (advantageous).
Reptile, mammal or bird experience and familiarity with local flora (beneficial but not required).
Availability: Flexible to work a 7-day roster, including weekends, public holidays, and school holidays.
Ability to comply with our Drug and Alcohol Policy.
Permanent residency in Australia.
