Job descriptionFusion Technology is in search for an experienced WIFI Engineer for this HYBRID position based in the Albany, NY area.
Position Title: WIFI Engineer
Pay Rate: $80,000 - $90,000 per year
Location: 3 days per week on-site in Albany, NY and 2 days remote
Incentives: Benefits package and possible clearance upgrade
Job Description: We are seeking a qualified candidate to work with the Veterans Administration's Enterprise System Engineering/Capacity Management for Telecommunications team. The selected individual will serve as a member of a team that provides enterprise-level recommendations for WiFi to VA senior leadership on enterprise communications. Provide Tier 4 escalation support when issues arise, deployment support for new technologies or architectures.
Make architecture recommendations to support the growing needs of the VATest the recommendations for enterprise compatibility in the state of the art network design labProvide on-call escalation support in the event that an issue arises that cannot be rectified by the network operations teamWrite white papers on new technology uses in the VA and how it will help support the mission of the VAMandatory Qualifications: Competency: Specialist/Lead/SupervisorKnowledge: Extensive knowledge in specialized functions. A wide and comprehensive understanding of, both general and specific aspects of the job and its application.Problem Solving: Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.Supervision: Work is performed without discernible direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment. May supervise others.Requirements: 5+ years' experience in a large enterprise environment involving WiFi networking architecture and managementExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsCisco IOS XE command line is a must.Understanding of capacity management/planning techniques and processesAn in-depth knowledge/understanding of WiFi, Radio Signals, and wireless networkingIn-depth understanding of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP is a mustAbility to interact with executive level Veterans Administrative staffDesire to learn other technologies, such as WAN and LANAbility to work across multiple projects; provide written/verbal status updates on each project on a regular basis to the team lead, Program Manager, and customerKnowledge and understanding of Network management and application analysis tools is required (NetScout, LiveAction, SolarWinds) and (Riverbed (formerly OpNet) preferred)Used testing and diagnostic tools to assess and modify equipmentDesign and validate the performance, quality, and reliability of the RF linkDevise and support radio frequencies (RF) link performance, reliability, and qualityUnderstanding of network packets capturesExperience with ticketing and change management (ServiceNow preferred)Knowledge and experience with IPv6Ability to obtain security clearance.Education / Experience: Master's Degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline is required. 10 years of relevant experience is required. 10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.PWS Specified Certifications: This position requires privileged system access. The applicant shall have six months to obtain an industry standard certification.Miscellaneous: Duties may require traveling, being on call periodically, and occasionally working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends)Background Investigation: Must be able to pass a government Tier 4 High Background InvestigationDesired Qualifications: Education / Experience: 5+ years' experience in a large enterprise environment involving network architecture and managementStrong understanding of NetworkingStrong understanding of Cisco CLI (IOS/XE/NX-OS)Certifications: CCNP or higher preferred, CWNP or ACMAJob Types: Full-time, Contract
