This role is based over an hour outside the CBD, so applicants should carefully consider the commute prior to applying.
Location: Triabunna Employment Type: Temporary (6 months) Hourly Rate: $57.05 (inclusive of casual loading) Position Overview As WHS Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting council staff in establishing and maintaining high WHS standards.
You will be responsible for implementing WHS procedures, conducting safety audits and inspections, coordinating incident investigations, and providing WHS training and guidance across various council sites.
This position requires strong stakeholder engagement and an ability to drive WHS initiatives in alignment with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities Maintain and ensure currency of WHS materials, procedures, and documentation in accordance with organisational safety obligations.
Conduct on-site safety inspections, audits, and WHS training sessions for council staff, focusing on compliance and risk mitigation.
Identify, analyse, and manage WHS risks across council operations, implementing regular reviews to enhance system performance.
Facilitate incident investigations, provide concise and detailed reports, and actively participate in WHS committee functions.
Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, fostering a safe and compliant workplace culture.
Key Selection Criteria Qualifications : Certificate IV (minimum) or Diploma in WHS; a qualification in internal auditing or training and assessment is highly regarded.
Experience : At least 5 years' experience in a similar WHS role, preferably within a high-risk, multi-disciplinary environment.
Technical Knowledge : Comprehensive understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 and related regulations, with a proven ability to apply this knowledge practically.
Skills : Strong communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and training facilitation.
Requirements : A current driver's licence is essential.
Desirable Attributes Experience in injury management support and a proactive approach to workplace safety.
Certification in internal auditing or training and assessment, reflecting commitment to best practices in WHS.
