About the opportunity
The WHS officer and Site Inspector reports to the State Building Manager and indirectly to the WHS Officer and is part of the Construction team.
In this highly rewarding role, your focus will be to conduct initial inspections of our clients' land and report back to the Sales Consultant as well as support the WHS Manager, with WHS initiatives, maintain the WHS Management System and complete safety inspections.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
Site Inspection
Safely inspect building sites to identify service locations and any potential concerns with the installation of plumbing, electrical and equipment for compliance with relevant codes.
Record levels of the proposed building site and document the inspection details in relevant business systems.
Read and interpret site plans, technical reports, surveys, elevation certificates, and other forms of property and project related documents prior to requesting contour report.
Prepare inspection reports and associated documentation in accordance with company policies in addition to submitting inspection reports into "ready for work" jobs
WHS
Implement and promote the WHS Management System Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance against NEX Building Group's and WHS Legislative requirements
Be a source of WHS expertise and provide regular advice to management and construction staff across Wilson Homes
Oversee WHS induction processes and resources for new employees and contractors
Travel to Building & Office in North and North-west regions of Tasmania and to Hobart for meetings with WHS Manager when required.
Liaise with regulatory authorities and resolve WHS Issues in a practical and timely manner.
Stay up to date with changes in health and safety legislation and industry standards and communicate relevant updates to the organization.
About you
You will share a passion for our purpose and be aligned to our core values; better together, be accountable, people matter and think bigger.
In addition, you will:
Knowledge of building construction principles and techniques, with preferred experience in residential structural, flood, and zoning plan reviews
Strong attention to detail and time management
Written and oral communication for effective expression and clarity
Able to read and interpret site plans, technical reports, surveys, elevation certificates, and other forms of property and project related documents.
The ability to recognize and explain verbally and in writing when plans, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and related documents are not in conformance with specific codes, ordinances, and standard.
Approach all processes with a continuous improvement mindset
Completion of Cert III in Work Health and Safety, not essential however, highly regarded
Comfortable traveling in the North and Northwest regions
