Project Overview:This Central Western NSW Project involves the construction of a 1200-person workers' village as part of a $75 million development.
This project will run for 12-18 months, with on-site works beginning at the end of March.
A second stage will include a 600-person village.
The project is supported by a full team of engineers and project professionals.Accommodation, meals, and vehicles provided for all personnel.Position Overview:My client is seeking an experienced Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to oversee and manage all WHS aspects of the Western NSW Project.
This critical role will ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all personnel on-site, and will involve implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving the safety protocols across the project.As WHS Manager, you will work closely with the Project Manager and the leadership team to drive a safety-first culture, ensuring that all activities are compliant with relevant legislation and best practices.
You will also be responsible for conducting risk assessments, ensuring proper training, and ensuring that any incidents are investigated and addressed immediately.Key Responsibilities:Health and Safety Leadership: Lead, manage, and promote the WHS management system to ensure a safe work environment for all project personnel.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and national WHS regulations and standards, ensuring all legal requirements are met and exceeded.Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, hazard identifications, and job safety analyses (JSAs) to proactively manage workplace risks and prevent incidents.Safety Training: Develop and deliver training and induction programs to ensure that all workers are adequately trained on safety protocols and emergency procedures.Incident Management: Oversee the investigation and reporting of any incidents, accidents, or near misses.
Ensure timely corrective actions and continuous improvement processes are implemented.Safety Audits: Regularly audit safety procedures, including site inspections, audits of safety practices, and ensuring compliance with safety plans.Safety Reporting: Maintain detailed records of safety performance, audits, and incidents.
Prepare regular safety reports for senior management and stakeholders.Emergency Preparedness: Ensure that emergency plans and procedures are in place, and that all personnel are familiar with evacuation, first aid, and emergency response protocols.Collaboration: Work closely with the Project Manager and other senior leadership to integrate safety into all phases of the project, from planning through to execution.Key Skills & Qualifications:WHS Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health and Safety (such as a Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety, Diploma of WHS, or equivalent).Experience: Proven experience as a WHS Manager or in a similar safety leadership role, preferably in the construction or infrastructure industry.Knowledge of WHS Legislation: In-depth knowledge of WHS laws and regulations, including compliance and risk management strategies.Project Experience: Experience working on large-scale construction projects with a strong understanding of the unique safety challenges in the industry.Strong Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to engage with staff, contractors, and clients effectively.Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills and the ability to investigate incidents, identify root causes, and develop preventative strategies.Certifications: Current First Aid and CPR certifications are highly desirable.Working Conditions:Location: The role is based on-site in the Mudgee region, with potential FIFO (Fly-In, Fly-Out) arrangements from Sydney/Brisbane available.Accommodation and Meals: Accommodation and meals are provided during the project.Vehicles: A company vehicle will be provided.How to Apply:If you have a passion for ensuring workplace safety, and meet the qualifications and experience listed, we'd love to hear from you.Please submit your application and CV detailing your relevant experience or click apply today.
