At the City of Gold Coast health and safety is our number one priority and the newly created WHS Culture Lead will play a crucial role in driving the continual improvement of the health and safety culture. The WHS Culture Lead is the driving force behind the development and implementation of contemporary health and safety practices and principles that will help us do safety a bit differently.
The WHS Culture Lead has the pivotal role of guiding the health and safety practice of the City to align with contemporary safety principles as we process to becoming a resilient and high reliability organisation
Key Deliverables of the position:
• Drive organisational safety culture improvement through development and implementation of contemporary health and safety practices, initiatives and programs.
• Provide coaching, guidance and upskilling to WHS staff to build capability and capacity for consistent delivery of services influenced by the Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles.
• Lead and implement strategic health and safety training initiatives to upskill line leaders throughout the organisation
• Develop and maintain the strategy that leads the City to become a high reliability organisation for health and safety.
• Facilitate organisational safety performance improvement through worker insight driven learning and event learning.
• The subject matter expert for the organisation on contemporary health and safety practices including: HOP, Safety Differently and Safety II and provide high level advice and guidance to the CoGC Senior Leadership Group.
• Lead complex incident investigations, Learning Teams and safety reviews and coach other WHS branch members to successfully do the same.
We're looking for people who have:
• Demonstrable experience in integrating HOP or similar type of worker centric organisational change principles within a large and complex organisation.
• Experience in delivery safety culture change programs and initiatives
• Qualifications in organisational psychology change management, WHS or similar
• Ability to influence for outcome at all levels of an organisation
• Proven project management skills
• Minimum 3 years' experience working in an organisation where HOP/Safety Differently has been successfully implemented
• Drivers licence class C unrestricted
