As a WHS Coordinator, you will play a vital role in promoting a culture of safety and well-being within our organisation.
You will provide operational support and advisory services to the General Manager of Armidale Hospital, the Risk Manager, and line managers in managing Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and preventing workplace accidents and injuries.
This position requires high-quality, customer-focused WHS consultancy to help managers effectively manage WHS within the workplace.
Key Responsibilities: Risk Management: Implement a comprehensive risk management strategy to effectively manage WHS risks, including hazardous manual tasks.Expert Advisory: Provide timely and expert WHS advice and support to managers and supervisors, while actively promoting WHS practices throughout the organisation.Data Analysis: Analyse WHS data to monitor accident and incident trends and generate necessary reports.
Ensure appropriate investigation and risk management strategies are in place for WHS-related incidents.Audit Preparation: Prepare the organisation for the biennial WHS Audit and develop and monitor 6-month action plans to address identified deficiencies.
Provide WHS auditing services in alignment with Ministry of Health requirements.Training: Conduct training sessions as required to enhance WHS awareness and compliance across the workforce.Collaboration: Attend District WHS Strategic Advisory Group meetings on a monthly basis, in person or via teleconference.
Also, participate in mandatory education days held twice yearly.Operational Assistance: Provide operational support and advisory services to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Risk Manager, and line managers in the management of WHS and the prevention of workplace accidents and injuries.Meeting Participation: Attend and actively participate in management meetings as directed, potentially providing reports to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Tablelands Sector.Where you'll be working: Armidale Rural Referral Hospital is a 99-bed facility offering acute care services to Armidale and surrounding areas.
It provides a broad range of medical services, including Imaging, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Emergency, Maternity, Mental Health, and various allied health services.
Located in Armidale, the hub of the New England High Country, the hospital is set in a picturesque region known for its 19th-century architecture, lush forests, national parks, and stunning natural landmarks, including the Wollomombi Falls, one of Australia's highest waterfalls.
The Successful Candidate: As a partner to our managers, you will have extensive WHS knowledge and experience working across a large organisation, collaborating with multiple stakeholders each day to provide your expertise and solutions to all WHS matters.
