Southern Cross Care has an exciting opportunity for a Workplace Health & Safety Advisor to join the team based at our Support Centre, conveniently located in Upper Mt Gravatt.

Reporting to the Manager- Health Safety & Wellbeing, you'll play a pivotal role in driving the integration of safety at Southern Cross Care (SCC) and embedding a safety culture. This will involve the implementation of key deliverable outcomes within SCC that strive for continuous improvement in health and safety, promote a culture of minimising incident and injury risks, and support rigorous risk management, compliance, and robust safety outcomes.
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to key projects and play an essential role in advancing our work, health and safety processes.
Key Responsibilities: Assist with the development and rollout of the new safety platform Support the implementation of key projects Provide project delivery support, ensuring all deadlines and milestones are met Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition Lead a review of our contractor management systems Support and contribute to WHS projects and initiatives aimed at improving safety performance as directed by senior leaders and your manager Collaborate with managers and property teams to identify and implement effective risk management strategies and ensure risk assessments are completed before capital works begin Facilitate the embedding of safety policies, procedures, compliance and risk management practices What will you bring to the role: Tertiary qualification as a WHS Advisor or a related field (incident investigation, lead auditor preferred) Knowledge or experience in WHS requirements for contractor engagement Previous experience in supporting the implementation of a safety plan Demonstrated experience in health and safety project delivery Familiarity with Health and Safety management systems and software Ability to build rapport easily and manage multiple competing priorities Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work autonomously while coordinating with stakeholders and handling competing priorities Previous experience as a WHS Advisor (preferred) Ability to understand, apply, and communicate health and safety requirements, with a strong understanding of WHS legislation in QLD, NSW, and VIC Willingness and ability to travel regularly Able to start as soon as possible Who is Southern Cross Care Queensland?
Southern Cross Care Queensland (SCCQ) is a Catholic not-for-profit organisation established by the Knights of the Southern Cross, more than 40 years ago. They saw a need to provide compassionate care and inclusive service to some of the most vulnerable, the ageing population, in the community.
Since then, SCCQ has grown to employ over 1300 staff caring for and supporting more than 2000 people across 13 residential aged care homes, 5 retirement villages, 28 social houses, the National Disability and Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and home care services in metropolitan and rural Queensland.
