The organisation is a major player in the Australian market, managing a diverse portfolio of renewable generation assets, including wind, solar, and battery storage, and is dedicated to driving the energy transition.Due to growth in their portfolio, our client is seeking an Optimisation Manager.
This role is pivotal in optimising their wholesale market operations, managing bidding strategies, and driving value from a substantial asset base.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and the ability to lead a high-performing team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute strategies for optimising wholesale market positions across renewable energy assets.Manage daily bidding activities in the NEM to maximise revenue and ensure compliance.Monitor market conditions, regulatory changes, and trading dynamics to inform optimisation strategies.Analyse generation performance data to identify opportunities for improved market outcomes.Coordinate with the trading team to align optimisation efforts with broader market strategies.Lead scenario analysis and stress testing of portfolio performance under varying market conditions.Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on market trends and strategic opportunities.Ensure compliance with all market rules, including NEM and AEMO requirements.Collaborate with the regulatory team to stay ahead of market changes and potential impacts on operations.Optimise battery storage strategies, including charge and discharge cycles in response to market signals.Engage with AEMO, regulators, and other market participants to represent the company's interests.Develop and maintain models for forecasting market positions, revenue outcomes, and risk assessments.Mentor and develop a team of analysts, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.Report on portfolio performance, strategy effectiveness, and key market insights to stakeholders.Support the development of new market initiatives and business cases for future investments.Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.Minimum 5 years' experience in wholesale energy markets or trading, preferably within the NEM.Demonstrated experience in portfolio optimisation, bidding strategies, and risk management.Strong analytical skills with proficiency in market analysis tools and data interpretation.Deep understanding of NEM operations, market rules, and compliance requirements.Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.Ability to work effectively under pressure and make data-driven decisions in a complex environment.Benefits:Competitive remuneration package with performance-based bonuses.Opportunity to work with a leading global renewable energy company.Professional development and career advancement opportunities.Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid work options.Access to comprehensive employee wellbeing programmes and support.How to Apply: To express your interest in this opportunity, please submit your CV and a cover letter detailing your experience, including a list of renewable energy projects you have delivered.
